In this role, you will be responsible for conducting underwriting assessments for both medical and non-medical insurance applications within assigned approval limits, ensuring all decisions comply with the Company's underwriting rules, guidelines, and risk standards. You will provide quality service and professional support to both internal and external customers, while applying strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to evaluate risks effectively. In addition, you will contribute to underwriting training and knowledge-sharing initiatives, support the development of team capabilities, and ensure all cases are handled in accordance with agreed turnaround times and service standards.

What the role is?

  • Perform underwriting assessments for both medical and non-medical cases within designated approval limits, ensuring compliance with company underwriting rules and guidelines.
  • Handle re-underwriting cases and case referrals, with the ability to manage escalated and complex underwriting assessments.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions are made within the team's turnaround time (TAT) standards to maintain service excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Support and train junior underwriters, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team competency and underwriting quality.
  • Serve as a key contact for sales and distribution channels, as well as internal stakeholders, providing professional underwriting advice, support, and timely responses to enquiries.

What we look for?

  • Minimum 10 years of underwriting experience in the life insurance industry
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to work under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, compliance requirements & good underwriting skills
  • Good analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
