In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the underwriting function to ensure high-quality service delivery, operational excellence, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. You will drive the achievement of business targets through process optimisation, strengthened risk controls, and the development of team capabilities to support organisational goals. The role also involves developing and maintaining effective engagement with the BPO underwriting team, as well as organising and leading underwriting training programmes to enhance technical knowledge, consistency, and overall team performance.
What the role is?

Lead and manage the team to achieve departmental objectives, ensuring productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and service quality

Oversee daily operations and ensure service delivery within defined standards, including turnaround time (TAT), accuracy, and compliance requirements

Review and approve key decisions within delegated authority, ensuring alignment with company policies, guidelines, and risk appetite

Drive process improvement and transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management frameworks

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify gaps, and implement appropriate corrective actions

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Distribution, Compliance, Operations, and IT, to support business objectives and operational needs

Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to team members to strengthen capabilities and build a succession pipeline

Handle escalated and complex cases, providing guidance, decision-making support, and timely resolution

Support management reporting, audit reviews, and governance activities to ensure effective oversight and control
What we look for?
- Possess a minimum of 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in Insurance, Operations, Underwriting, or New Business functions
- Demonstrate proven managerial and leadership experience, with a strong track record of leading and developing teams
- Exhibit solid experience in operational management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement to drive business outcomes and service excellence
- Have experience in leading and managing cross-functional projects, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with business objectives
- Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities in building, motivating, and developing high-performing teams
