About the role
The position reports to the Head of Financial Risk Management (“Head of FRM”) with focus on financial and insurance risk management. Exposure to enterprise risk management and operational risk management is possible depending on the team’s need.
What the role is ?
- Support the Head of FRM on developing and implementing the risk management framework on financial and insurance risk areas; to oversee regulatory solvency risk and performing holistic forward-looking risk and solvency assessments.
- Identify, assess and manage financial risks (e.g market, credit), insurance risks (e.g. persistency, morbidity, mortality, expense) and liquidity risk in collaboration with Actuarial, Product & Pricing, Investment and ALM teams.
- Calibrate and perform liquidity stress test.
- Support in the risk review of new/revamp product initiatives including product features and risk implications. Liaise.
- Support the preparation of the annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and develop stress scenarios used in stress & scenario testing for capital planning purposes.
- Implement and monitor investment limits in system (Bloomberg CMGR); work closely with the investment team to identify and assess risks associated with new asset types and/or new investment proposals for approval; support the review of SAA and investment plan.
- Prepare month-end HKFRS 9 expected credit loss (ECL) calculation; maintain and update the ECL methodology.
- Prepare risk reports to risk committees, senior management and the parent company
- Coordinate the Financial and Insurance Risk Management Committee, including formulating the agenda, working with different parties to prepare materials
- Collaborate with operational risk team in risk exercises, including risk register, internal control adequacy assessment, emerging risk assessment.
Support in other risk-related delivered as warranted by the CRO or Head of FRM
Who we are looking for ?
- 3-6 years of work experience in a financial institution preferably in life insurance industry, in related work areas including Actuarial, Risk Management, Investment Management or Product Pricing & Development preferred
- Degree or above in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Statistics / Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Professional designation preferred, such as FSA/ASA, CERA, FRM, CFA (or equivalent)
- Experience in producing ORSA report, managing senior management risk committees is an advantage
- Experience in establishing and monitoring investment limits using Bloomberg CMGR, or credit risk application e.g. Moody’s Analytics Impairment Studio is an advantage
- Good understanding and knowledge of the key risks in life insurance company and products is an advantage
- Goal oriented and self-motivated, ability to work under pressure and multi-tasking, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong report writing, presentation and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese
