Job Description
Manager, Financial Control (Finance Operations) (1-year contract)
Req ID:  1331
Primary Job Location:  Hong Kong
Job Function:  Finance & Accounting
Posting Start Date:  07/08/2026

Lead the end-to-end delivery of premium collection gateway and financial operations initiatives—from business case and requirements through solution design, testing, implementation, benefits realization—ensuring secure, controlled and efficient integration with policy administration, banking, payment-service-provider and finance systems.

What the role is?

  • Own project scope, objectives, deliverables, timeline, budget, resources, dependencies and success measures; maintain project plans, status reports, decisions, issues and dependencies.
  • Elicit, analyse and document business, operational, control and reporting requirements for premium collection solutions, including cards, FPS, bank transfer, virtual or payer identification and digital-wallet channels, where applicable.
  • Design and validate end-to-end processes covering premium matching, posting, settlement, bank and gateway reconciliation, fees, rejected or unmatched receipts, refunds, reversals, chargebacks and exception handling.
  • Lead financial-process transformation projects covering expense accruals, including cut-off governance, accrual identification and estimation, approval workflow, journal generation, reversal and settlement tracking, with the aim of improving completeness, accuracy, timeliness and auditability.
  • Coordinate Finance, Life Operations, IT, banks, payment service providers and system vendors to secure decisions and deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Manage vendor deliverables and system integration, including interfaces or APIs, file specifications, data mapping, access controls, audit trails, reconciliation outputs and operational reports.
  • Plan and lead system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect resolution, cutover, migration, contingency planning and production-validation activities, with clear acceptance criteria and sign-offs.
  • Embed sound financial controls, segregation of duties, data protection, anti-money-laundering considerations and applicable regulatory requirements into the solution and operating model.
  • Prepare procedures, controls, training and communication materials; support launch readiness, post-implementation stabilization, issue resolution and handover to business-as-usual teams.
  • Identify and deliver further automation and process-improvement opportunities across Treasury, premium collection, payments, accounting operations and month-end closing.
  • Hands-on exposure to card schemes, merchant acquirers, payment service providers, FPS, direct debit, digital wallets, host-to-host connectivity, APIs and multi-currency collections is preferred.
  • Experience implementing automated matching, transaction-level reconciliation, real-time or near-real-time payment data and management information dashboards is desirable.

What we look for?

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in project management, business analysis, financial operations or transformation, including at least 3 years in life insurance or a closely related financial-services environment.
  • Demonstrated delivery experience in premium collection, payment gateway, merchant acquiring, digital payment, bank integration or similar payment-platform implementation.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance operations and policy administration, particularly new-business and renewal premium collection, suspense handling, premium allocation, refunds and policy-related payments.
  • Good knowledge of financial operations, including cash management, bank and gateway settlement, transaction-level reconciliation, accounting entries, controls, exception management and month-end closing.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into process maps, user requirements, functional specifications, test scenarios and operational procedures.
  • Sound project-governance, vendor-management, stakeholder-management, analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills; able to manage multiple priorities and escalate issues constructively.
  • Detail-oriented, accountable and collaborative, with a strong control mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese; Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with project-management, process-mapping, data-analysis or AI-enabled productivity tools is preferred.
