About the role
We are looking for passionate candidates to join our growing equity research team, with a focus on the Hong Kong and China listed equities; ideal candidates should have 7+ years of relevant research experience (preferably with experience in the consumption sector), happy to work within a team environment, communicative, open to changes and are keen to do deep dive, fundamental research on the alpha-generating opportunities.
What the role is?
- Conduct comprehensive research on industries and public companies (including A and H shares and ADR), analyzing financial statements, business fundamentals, and competitive positioning. Evaluate company management, corporate governance practices, and strategic initiatives to assess long-term growth potential.
- Develop and maintain industry databases, peer comparison as well as individual financial models to forecast company performance and assess valuation metrics. Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of various business and market conditions on investment outcomes.
- Prepare detailed research reports highlighting the key research findings, investment thesis, financial forecasts, and valuation as well as key catalysts and risks.
- Conduct thorough due diligence by engaging with company management and various stakeholders in the supply chain, which may necessitate traveling to meet with diverse participants within the ecosystem.
- Participate in company briefings, industry events, roadshows, and sell-side conferences to enhance comprehension and insights into publicly traded entities.
- Collaborate with other team members (including in the equity research team and the broader research and investment teams) to generate comprehensive investment recommendations based on analysis and data-driven insights.
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrate a strong interest in financial markets, with a passion for conducting in-depth analysis of stocks and securities.
- Capable to work effectively in a team environment, sharing insights and collaborating with colleagues to generate investment ideas.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in financial modelling and different valuation techniques while embracing innovation and new technologies, seeking out opportunities to enhance research processes.
- Be willing to travel for on-site company visits, industry conferences, and research trips as required.
- Able to communicate research outcomes in a clear and concise manner for different stakeholders (including technical and non-technical audiences).
- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in securities research on either the buy-side or sell-side is preferred. Ideally also have experience covering a diverse range of industries to bring a broad perspective to investment analysis; consumption sector experience would be a plus.
- Candidates with or pursuing professional qualifications such as CFA or CPA are preferred.
- Fluency in Mandarin is preferred.
