What the role is?
• Conduct comprehensive research on economic cycles, understand onshore market dynamics, stay abreast of, and interpret macroeconomic and policy of key industries in China.
• Able to integrate key developments in China with global macro strategy on multi-asset classes including listed equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
• Develop and maintain in-house economic models and indicators to validate investment team’s top-down views and identify key turning points of the market.
• Prepare detailed research reports highlighting the key research findings, investment thesis, top-down macroeconomic and policy impact on key sectors.
• Collaborate with other team members and management team to generate comprehensive investment recommendations and portfolio strategies based on analysis and data-driven insights.
What we look for?
• Bachelor’s degree in economics or related subjects, with master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in economic research on either the buy-side or sell-side.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex financial data, understand the relationship between macroeconomic cycles and cross-asset performance, and make informed decisions.
• In-depth understanding of China’s institutional setup and policies would be a distinctive advantage.
• Understanding of quantitative and modelling techniques, while embracing innovation and new technologies, seeking out opportunities to enhance research processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable to work effectively in a team environment, sharing insights and collaborating with colleagues to generate investment ideas.
• Self-motivated and be able to work alone with high attention to detail and good time management skills.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin is preferred.
